Thrive Postpartum: Your Guide To Postpartum Mental Wellness

Welcome to the show. I’m Kelly Siebold.

I’m Ashley Moore. We are so glad that you’re here. We want you to join us for a weekly discussion on all things postpartum mental wellness. Here’s the thing, being a mom is hard. If you’re one of the five moms who suffer from postpartum depression and anxiety, motherhood can be a very real struggle. In the US alone, almost a million new moms each and every year will struggle mentally after having a child but 75% of those moms are never diagnosed and worse yet, they never get treatment.

Postpartum Mental Wellness

Each week, we want to talk with you about all things postpartum mental wellness. Not just for moms in the newborn phase, but through the early years of your child’s life as well. Postpartum depression can start any time within the first twelve months and even last for years when it’s not treated.

We want to be your safe place where you can hear honest and inspiring stories of other moms who struggled, how they got help, and how they are now thriving to also learn from industry experts who are supporting postpartum moms in ways that can also help your mental health like nutritionists, doctors, meditation experts, physical therapists and more. Finally, to discuss those topics, we all wonder about postpartum rage, relationship issues, and even the identity of changes that follow childbirth.

Thrive Postpartum

Why is this conversation so important to Kelly and me? It’s because we both went through our own struggles. As a new mom, I struggled with postpartum anxiety. Though, I didn’t realize that’s what it was for many weeks. Even though I had finished my Master’s in Counseling, it affected my ability to feel fully present with my family and not to mention my sleep or lack thereof. My experience has served as a drug-driving force in my clinical practice to support as many moms as I can through their postpartum journey.

The same as Ashley, I struggled with postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression, and intrusive thoughts that started around week six after having my child. I was so overwhelmed with unexpected loneliness, depression, and rage. All the scary thoughts. What was even worse was that I struggled to find the help that I knew I needed as soon as I knew I needed it.

That has led me to start Thrive Postpartum. It’s a virtual platform providing whole self-support, education, and community to new moms. We want you to join us every week for honesty, hopefully, some laughter, and much-needed guidance for support and self-care so that you can ultimately thrive postpartum. Not just as a mom but in all aspects of your life.
